BIOGRAPHY
Udoka Oyeka is a seasoned Nigerian-American Actor-Director and has steadily shown his originality in his films. He started off when he got cast in school theater play at the University of Texas at Arlington. After graduating he immediately enrolled in Drama School to following his passion in film.
He released his first feature “ZR-7 (The Red House Seven)” in cinemas nationwide (Nigeria) in 2011, which earned nominations at the Africa Movie Academy Awards in 2012. He followed with the short film titled “Down and Out” which had 3 nominations at the 2013 AfricaMagic Viewer’s Choice Awards for Best Short Film, Best Lighting Design and Best Actor; it was an official selection at the 2013 Africa International Film Festival and was nominated for Best Short Film as well.
Udoka followed up with another film titled “Living Funeral” which earned 8 nominations at the 2014 AfricaMagic Viewer’s Choice Awards where Udoka was nominated for Best Director. Other nominations included Best Movie (Drama), Best Cinematography, Best Screenplay amongst others.
It was also an official selection at the Durban International Film Festival 2014; official selection at the Pan African Film Festival
in Los Angeles 2014; the African Film Festival New York 2014, Zimbabwe Film Festival 2014 and the Lights, Camera, Africa Festival 2014. “Living Funeral” was also nominated for Best
Short film at the Africa Movie Academy Awards
and also nominated for Best Short Film at the Best of Nollywood Awards 2014.
Udoka was selected for the 2014 Berlinale Talent at the Durban International Film Festival where his new project titled “No Good Turn” was also selected for the Script Station. NO GOOD TURN was an official selection at the European Independent Film Festival 2016, The Durban International Film Festival 2016, thePan African Film Festival in LA 2017 amongst others.
His film LAS GIDI VICE was an official selection at the International Film Festival Rotterdam and the British Film Institute (African Odyssey).
Udoka’s latest feature film titled THREE THIEVES was released nationwide (Nigeria) in 2019 to raving reviews from both critics and the audience.
As an Actor Udoka embodied the role of the “Tsav Gardia” in the Hit TV series TINSEL; he also plays Prince Oche in the hit TV series
AJOCHE and has also been in a number of hit cinema films.
In his spare time he loves to play basketball and soccer and loves listening to world music. He is steadily following his passion as a filmmaker and an actor.
